TEACHING PRACTICE FIRST PHASE - WEEK 8


TEACHING PRACTICE     

WEEK 8-MONDAY TO FRIDAY
27/11/2023 TO 1/12/2023

                       INTRODUCTION
The eighth week of our teaching practice went so good and effective. The week from November 27 monday to 1 December friday.

On the first day of 8th week 27th of November reached the school at 9:20 a.m. After the prayer the first period I have substitution class on 8C where I gave them a test paper on why classification,the second period I have substitution for 7D where I teach them the science chapter process of purification of water, the 6th period I have class on 8C which is my concerned class where I teach them the topic taxonomic hierarchy of cat where i teach them hierarchy of cat and its scientific name.The 7th and 8 period I have no class. 6 teacher training from Sabarigiri College came for school induction for 5 days the school dispersed at 3:30 p.m

 On the second day due to cluster meeting there was no regular class for the school.

 On the third dday as usual reached school at 9:20 a.m. After the prayer I have substitution for class 6D where I took the attendance and engage them inbreathing exercise and teach them how concentrate on things,the 5th period I have substitution on 8 C which is my concerned class where i teach them the topic taxonomic hierarchy of plants where it is them the hierarchy of coconut tree and mango tree, all the students activity in the teaching learning process.As the induction program was going the teacher trainees observing our class and they are doing the share class also. The school dispersed at 3:30 p.m.

 On the fourth day as usual reach the school at 9:20 a.m. after the prayer I have substitution for 10 b class where I have to take the attendance and engage thee learning the portions for Christmas exam. During the third period our physical education teacher Nazida miss came to see our physical education class. We conducted physical education class for students of Class 8D and 8C. I made them do warm up exercises, jogging and a minor game running race, a game for lvoice modulation . The class was concluded by 11.50 a.m.Then teacher give us feedback, necessary suggetions for improvement. The fifth period i have substitution for 6C. The school dispersed at 3:30 pm

 On the last day of this week friday reach the school at 9:20 a.m. After the prayer we are assembled in our staff room. Sreedevi miss came for observation. I have class for 9B which is my concerned class i teach the topic External structure of kidney. Teacher and the teacher trainees came for induction observed my class. Cutouts charts are used as learning aids. Miss observed, assessed and evaluated the class. After the class give suggestions.

CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In this week the students of 8th standard were taught using of teaching manual from their fourth chapter from part 1 of their basic science textbook namely WHY CLASSIFICATION. 8th standard students were taught "Taxonomic hierarchy of cat and taxonomic hierarchy of plants"

In this week the students of 9th standard where thought using of teaching manual from their Biology textbook from the unit excretion to maintain homeostasis . The 9th standard students where taught "External structure of kidney"
Teaching aids such as charts, activity cards,ICT were used appropriately based on the topic taught.
The reflective journals were also done this week.

OVERALL REFLECTION OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE

 The overall experience of the class was good and effective all the components of the lesson plan including the target at learning objectives clearly explained. Intellectual curiosity of the child is very well aroused. Developed a good rapot with the learner.
 The topics from class 8 there I teached them are Taxonomic hierarchy of cat and taxonomic hierarchy of plants". If more specific criteria are adopted classification become more accurate, it will be easy to study organisms if they can be classified according to the suitable criteria. In the taxonomic hierarchy of cat the kingdom Phylum class order family genus species of cat identified and studied. In the topic taxonomy of plants the taxonomic hierarchy of coconut tree and mango tree are identified distinguished and studied 
 For the 9th standard I teach them the topic  external structure of kidney. There I teach them the shape, position, the characteristics of external structure of kidney

SUGGESTIONS MADE BY THE TEACHER DURING OBSERVATION

 Set induction 
 Positives: good, Prerequisite checked, aroused curiosity and interest, interesting.
  Development of the lesson
 Positives: systematic, meaningful
 Open- ended questions,  multi level qquestions  are asked to develop the lesson. Self construction of knowledge is encouraged. Teacher moments purposeful, given individual attention. Scaffolding is seen. Sound/voice modulation - good.
good explanation. Reinforcement tried to give at times.
 Negatives: teacher hasn't read the charts close to the chart. Cut out Should be displayed by handling/raising slightly upwards. Didn't  used pointer to read out the chart and stand close to the charts while doing this. clearly speak out/ spell out the answer told by students. Do not concentrate on saree you did it unconsciously . Teachers failed to use pictures and chart to explain the content.
 A-v aids
 Positive: Chart-good, legible, neat, clear.
Blackboard used to introduce the new terms points. used well.
 Negative: rubbed of the point before going to next activities used spelling mistakes in chart description. Last Chart (filled group activity) letter words size reduced, do not prepare as such.
 Content mastery
 Positive: Good delivered as per prefixed objectives. Adequate supplementary knowledge.
 Learner involvement
 Positive: Varied, life related, age appropriate, self constructions of knowledge is  encouraged, initiativenes autonomy encouraged. Active participation encouraged.
 Learning experience
 Positive: life related, varied, addequate purposeful age appropriate,chances for active participation, child centered
 Classroom management 
 Positive: tried to stop misconduct.
                 Know name of all students.
 Negative:Shightly more try to improve.
  Closure of the  lesson
 Positive:Summarised and reviewed all points
 Negative: Firstly stick all necessary chart in class and then conclude it, do not make hurry as you did.
Assessment and evaluation
 Negative: first call students and then ask questions.
 Positive : Formative evaluation  is noted through out the class as per perfixed objectives.
 Overall impression
Good

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

School conducts extra curricular activities. This week the school conducts a drawing competition.physical education class conducted.
